George Robert Mills ( born George Robert Mills ; December 29, 1908, Deptford , England - July 15, 1970, Torquay , England ) is an English striker . He played his entire career at Chelsea Football Club and England . He is the eighth record holder of Chelsea in terms of goals scored for the club - 125 goals. Club career
Mills moved Chelsea from the Bromley amateur club in 1929, where he spent his entire football career. In the 1929/30 season, he became the top scorer, scoring 14 goals in 20 matches, he helped the team get into the top division, despite the fact that he debuted only in December. Over the next nine years, Mills regularly scored for the club, which became the only professional in his career, and by the end of World War II he had 123 goals in 229 matches, despite the fact that he did not always get into the main team. The 1936/37 season was the best of his career when he scored 22 goals in 32 matches and received a call to the England team. Mills was the first football player to score 100 goals in the championship for the club. After retiring, he took up a coaching career at Chelsea [2] . He later worked in the City of London for a printing company [3] . He died during a vacation in Torquay in 1970.
International Career
Mills spent 3 matches for England in 1937. In his debut match on October 23, 1937 against the national team of Ireland, he scored a hat-trick [4] .
