Content

History

The composition was released as part of the 1971 Who's Next album and has since appeared repeatedly on various records, including on the soundtrack of The Kids Are Alright for the 1979 documentary of the same name. The recording of the song for this film, held May 25, 1978 at Shepperton Studios, was The Who’s last full-time job, as Keith Moon died 4 months later.

“Won't Get Fooled Again” was often performed by Roger Daltry , John Entwistle and Townsend at recitals. Townsend made radical changes to the song several times using various instrumental variations from acoustics to techno .

On February 7, 2010, The Who closed their performance on the Super Bowl XLIV with this song.

Cover versions

  • Won't Get Fooled Again was performed by Van Halen on their 1993 album Right Here, Right Now . The album topped the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart.
  • Heavy metal guitarist Axel Rudi Pell and his band recorded a cover of "Won't Get Fooled Again" for their 2007 album, Diamonds Unlocked .

Usage

Part of the song was used as the theme for the start of the CSI series : Miami .
