Biography
Born in 1919 in the urban-type settlement Bondyuzhsky (now the city of Mendeleevsk) of the Vyatka province in a working class family; Russian.
He graduated from school in 1939.
Having chosen the military profession, he entered the Leningrad Military School of Instrumental Intelligence of anti-aircraft artillery, which he graduated shortly before the war, having received an anti-aircraft platoon. He participated in the cover from air strikes of ground units during the defense of Bryansk and the battles for Yelets .
In 1942 he was appointed commander of a rifle battalion, with whom he participated in battles on the Western, Central, Kalinin, First Belorussian fronts and reached Berlin , becoming famous for a number of daring operations, in particular, encircling and breaking the position of German troops in the summer of 1944 to the southeast from Berlin, without losing a single person in that battle and, according to the characteristics in the presentation in the award, showing "exceptional courage and ability to lead a battalion in the most difficult conditions."
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 31, 1945, Mikhail Vladimirovich Sudnishnikov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union .
After the war, Mikhail Sudnishnikov continued his army service. Subsequently, he moved to Moscow , worked at one of the research institutes , and for many years taught at the military academy [ specify ] .
He died in 1985.
