Botanical Description
Rosehip is evergreen - an evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub with climbing creeping or rising stems up to 10 m long. Spikes are few, rare, curved, approximately equal, greatly expanding to the base.
The leaves are complex, dark green, divided into 5-7 leaves, the central of which is usually larger than the side, with a serrated edge. The upper and lower surfaces of the leaflets are usually bare, but the middle vein is sometimes slightly pubescent below.
The flowers are solitary, with short bare, early falling bracts , up to 4.5 cm in diameter, usually fragrant. The lobe of the calyx is iron-pubescent on the outside, falling after flowering. Petals are white. Pistils fused, with hairy stigmas.
The fruit is ovoid or spherical in shape, red-orange in color, 1-1.6 cm long.
