Biography
Born July 1, 1750 in Germany. Educated at the Dresden Gymnasium and the University of Leipzig, and then moved to Russia in 1798, became a teacher of new languages in the second Petersburg Cadet Corps and the Latin language in the main German school. Then he was a German teacher at the Yekaterinoslav Institute and the Midwifery Institute. In July 1804 he was awarded the all-merciful award for the publication of the German St. Petersburg magazine. After leaving service in St. Petersburg on June 22, 1805, Miller received the position of teacher of French and German at the Astrakhan Gymnasium. After his petition to the trustee Rumovsky, on January 23, 1808, Miller was appointed to Kazan University as an adjunct in the department of world history, geography and statistics. On October 27, 1809, Miller was transferred to the post of director of schools in the Irkutsk province, which is why in November he stopped lecturing. Leaving Kazan University, Miller secured the title of Honorary Corresponding Member and subsequently delivered various, mainly natural-historical, items for university collections. In 1816, Miller was again moved to Kazan to the post of director of the local public school.
