“Shaken Energy” ( Chinese 石破天驚 ) is a 1973 Hong Kong dramatic action movie with and Tien Feng in the lead roles. An alternative name is Awakening Strike [2] .

Story
Henry Yu plays a guy, Jiang Taikang, traveling from place to place, making a living as a fighter. From time to time, he fights on stage in front of the audience, works as a bodyguard and protects the store owners from bandits collecting money from them. One day, Taikan receives a letter, due to which he is forced to return home, because his elderly father is seriously ill. Before the death of his father, Taikan vows to stay working on the family farm and stop fighting. Local bandits try to buy the land of Taikan, but when he refuses, they threaten him, and then burn his house, kill his mother and sister. Tykan, motivated by revenge, tracks down and punishes the villains. In the end, kills their leader. The film ends with the representative of the law saying to the arrested avenger: “The law should have punished them, not you.”

Reviews
Film critic Boris Khokhlov puts three out of five stars in the film. In his review, he notes such shortcomings as “the wretchedness of the script, the primitiveness of the acting and the obvious budgeting of the production”, and the advantages of the painting include “excellent fights for the beginning of the 70s” and “a nice selection of villains” [2] . The authors of the book on martial arts films The Encyclopedia of Martial Arts Movies (Bill Palmer, Karen Palmer and Rick Meyers) rate “Awakened Energy” (in the book itself, the film is marked as “Village On Fire”) in two stars out of a maximum of four [3] .
