Biography

Alexander Fadeevich Mikhailov [1] was born on April 20, 1925 in the village of Kruchinino, Ufa canton of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

Russian. He graduated from 7 classes. Before the war, he studied at the Ufa Pedagogical College.

Drafted into the Red Army by the Ufa military commissariat in 1943. From the same year in the army.

Machine gunner of the motorized rifle battalion of the 69th Mechanized Brigade (9th Mechanized Corps, 3rd Guards Tank Army, Voronezh Front) Private Mikhailov distinguished himself in battles on the Dnieper River .

He died on January 2, 1944. He was buried in the mass grave of Soviet soldiers in the village of Osykovo, Berdichevsky District, Zhytomyr Region ( Ukraine ) [2] [3] . In 1980, a warrior sculpture was installed on the grave, 6 plates with the names of the fallen soldiers, including the name of Alexander Mikhailov, were placed to the right of it.

Feat

“Machine gunner of the motorized rifle battalion of the 69th Mechanized Brigade (9th Mechanized Corps, 3rd Guards Tank Army, Voronezh Front), Private Mikhailov A.F., on the night of September 22, 1943, was among the first to cross the Dnieper River and assisted the division in overcoming the river . In battles on the Bukrin bridgehead (Kanevsky district of the Cherkasy region of Ukraine) he supported the advance of his company with machine-gun fire, stubbornly repelled the enemy’s counterattacks, destroying up to 20 Nazis ” [4] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1943, for the exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and the heroism and courage shown, Private Mikhailov Fadeevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [4] .

Memory

In the village of Kruchinino, Ufa region , a memorial plaque is installed on the house where the Hero lived.
