Biography
Vladimir Esaulenko was born in 1912 in the village of Denetsk-Amvrosiyivka (now Amvrosiyivka, Donetsk Region of Ukraine).
Received incomplete secondary education.
In 1934 - 1936 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1936 he was sent to Sochi for the construction of sanatoriums in the Komsomol voucher. In 1941 he was again called up to the army. In September of the same year, he graduated from the courses of junior lieutenants and was sent to the army, commanded a company of the 71st rifle regiment of the 30th rifle division of the 56th Army of the Southern Front . Participated in battles in the Rostov region [1] .
On September 29, 1941, during the battles near the village of Pavlograd company, Yesaulenko, coming to the enemy’s flank, defeated the infantry battalion, seizing large trophies. In October 1941, the company was surrounded, but managed to get out of it with minimal losses, while conducting reconnaissance of the German troops and capturing two German officers with documents. At the end of October, during the battles for the village of Kuybyshevo, Esaulenko replaced the retired gunner and destroyed four German infantry vehicles. When the enemy began to receive reinforcements five days later, Esaulenko raised a company to the attack and destroyed a large number of soldiers and officers, seized many weapons. On January 28, 1942, Esaulenko received an order to cross the Mius and capture the outskirts of the village of Ryazhenoye, Matveyev-Kurgan district, Rostov region. Rote managed to knock out German troops from the advanced trenches, but they soon launched a series of fierce counterattacks. In the battle, Esaulenko was wounded, but continued to fight and the first to rush into the village. The company destroyed three bunkers and a large number of enemy soldiers and officers. In that battle, Esaulenko died. Buried in sec. Matured [1] .
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 27, 1942, Lieutenant Vladimir Yesaulenko was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of the combat tasks of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and for showing courage and heroism". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin .
Memory
- In honor of Esaulenko named streets in the village. Ryazhenoe, Amvrosiyivka and Sochi .
- Forever enrolled in the lists of the personnel of the military unit [1] .
