The founder of the Swan River colony and the city of Perth in Western Australia .
He was commander in chief of the East India and China Royal Navy stations .
During the Crimean War, the squadron under his command unsuccessfully searched for the Russian sailing frigate "Diana" under the command of Admiral Yevfimy Vasilyevich Putyatin .
While in Japan, he concluded the first treaty of friendship between England and Japan on October 14, 1854.
Founder of Swan River Colony and Perth
In 1827, Captain James Stirling on the ship "Parmelia" conducted a study of the Swan River Bay and, based on its results, recommended the founding of a colony in this place. On May 2, 1829, Captain Charles Fremantle officially declared western Australia a British colony.
On June 1, 1829, together with other officials and settlers, Stirling himself arrived here, being at that time a lieutenant-governor. Now this day is celebrated as the foundation day of Australia - Foundation Day.
