Description
The Order is a golden, red enameled cross with lily-like endings. On the blue enamel medallion there is a white enamel inscription in a circle “ALFONSO X EL SABIO REY DE CASTILLA Y DE LÉON” ( Alfonso X the Wise, king of Castile and Leon ), inside which is an image of Alfonso X with a scepter falcon in his right and a power in his left hands . The reverse of the order depicts a purple eagle with spread wings, the claws of which hold a blue globe.
The order chain consists of 11 black enameled eagles with open wings, and 6 alternating letters “A” and 6 Roman numerals “X”.
The large cross of the order is supposed to be worn on a sling from the right to the left shoulder, also with a star on the chest. The senior officer and commander wear an order around his neck, and senior officers also wear a star on his chest. Knight's cross and medal are worn on the tape on the left side of the chest.
