Angel heart

The story of Angel Heart is an alternative continuation of the City Hunter manga by the same author. A young girl is standing on the roof of a building in Shinjuku , the customer via telephone congratulates the girl known as “Glass Heart” with a job well done, namely murder. However, later the girl realized that she had killed the father of a small child, and jumped off the building, running into an iron fence with spikes.

At the same time, Kaori Makimura is late for her own wedding, and sees that a little girl is about to be hit by a truck. Kaori saves the girl, but she gets herself under the car. Her still living heart is taken away for organ donation, but a criminal organization steals Kaori’s heart to urgently transplant it into the body of the Glass Heart.

The Glass Heart was sent to Taiwan , where she lay in a coma for a year, but at that time she was tormented by the visions of the people she killed and Kaori’s memories of the City Hunter. After she wakes up, she decides to find out who Ryo really is, who he is Kaori and why he appeared in her dreams, and therefore goes to Shinjuku . She finds the “City Hunter,” who left his role after Kaori’s death. After he learns that Kaori’s heart has been implanted in Glass Heart, Ryo decides to help the girl forget the killer’s past and begin a normal life.

Xiang-in (Glass Heart) ( 香 瑩 ) - A young girl from Taiwan and the main character of the story. Daughter of Lee Yang Yang, leader of the Zheng Tao Hui crime syndicate. 2 years before the main events, she and her mother had an accident, her mother died, and Xiang lost her memories of her childhood and origin, and she was taken to a syndicate to make her a bounty hunter. During the training she received the name "Twenty-seventh", but after the training she became known as the "Glass Heart". After the suicide attempt, Xiang implanted the heart of the late Kaori Makimura, she lay in a coma for about a year. After that, the girl returned to Japan, where she met Ryo, the wife who died in the accident. He accepts Xiang as his own daughter, at that time the girl was only 15 years old. In the 20th chapter of the manga, Xiang is already 19 years old, but her appearance has not changed. At first, the girl had a very weak idea of ​​the outside world, and, feeling threatened by someone, was ready to kill him, but Ryo, Saeko, Umibodzu and others began to teach her how to act in the outside world. Xiang and the late Kaori had much in common, in particular, due to genetic similarities, Xiang’s body accepted Kaori’s heart well, and Xiang also accepted many of Kaori’s memories, such as her place of residence, her favorite coffee, quotes, and partially adopted personal Kaori qualities.

Ryo Saeba ( 冴 羽 獠 ) - One of the main characters, also the main character of the City Hunter manga. He was raised in Central America, a partisan village during the Civil War, knows little about his true nature. However, according to the past, the only one from the Angel Heart manga survived in a plane crash where his parents died, Ryo himself became a mercenary. He was widely known as the "City Hunter", as well as for his debauchery over sexy girls. However, he later married Kaori. He was with Kaori in the last moments before her death. At the beginning of the main events, Ryo was depressed and disappointed in life, and ceased his activities as a City Hunter, but after learning that Kaori Xiang remained alive thanks to her heart, he decided to adopt her, normalize her life and help forget about the dark past.

Kaori Makimura ( 槇 村 香 ) - According to the story of City Hunter , she was originally Ryo's partner and was responsible for organizing clients and other management tasks. By nature she was a tomboy. Later fell in love with him, although at first Ryo did not reciprocate. Ryo was often severely punished after he allowed himself to be promiscuous with other girls. According to the plot of Angel Heart , she was going to marry Ryo, however, saving the girl, got under the car and died. At the time of death, Kaori was only 28 years old. Her heart was almost immediately stolen by the Zheng Dao Hui syndicate and implanted in Xiang's body. Like Ryo, Kaori did not know her true origin, being the daughter of a criminal who died in an incident with the police, and then taken into the Makimura family. In the history of Angel Heart, there are a number of references to the fact that the Kaori soul continues to live in the body of Xiang, manifesting itself through thoughts, dream visions and thoughtful communication with Xiang, as well as through Xiang, sometimes communicating with Ryo. Once, even when trying to assassinate, Kaori "paralyzed" Xiang's hand, preventing her from pulling the trigger. In a sense, Kaori plays the role of the guardian angel Xiang, and she herself helps her arrange a normal life.

In contrast to the events of City Hunter , now considers Ryo to be his friend, and also prefers to call himself "Falcon", there are also several references to the fact that Umibodzu stopped being afraid of cats. His real name is Hayato Ijuin.

Saeko Nogami ( 野 上 冴 子 ) - According to City Hunter , she worked as a policeman in Tokyo and often collaborated with Ryo. The daughter of the police chief is closely associated with Kaori’s brother, Hideyuki. Saeko used her charm to manipulate Ryo, the same often pestering her. Saeko has become the police superintendent in the Shinjuku area, and is also worried that she's getting old, still has romantic feelings for Ryo.
