Islam Hadhari ( Malay. Islam Hadhari - civilized Islam ) - a concept put forward by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Badawi . Means dissociation from " Islamic terrorism ".
Principles
Islam Hadari includes ten basic principles:
- faith in Allah and devotion to him
- fair and trustworthy government
- freedom and independence of people
- mastering modern knowledge
- balanced and comprehensive economic development
- decent life for everyone
- protecting the rights of minorities and women
- enhancement of culture and high morality
- environmental Protection
- effective defense policy [1] [2] .
Islam Khadari is seen as one of the means of maintaining racial harmony and religious tolerance in a multinational society. According to Abdullah Badawi himself, Islam Hadari is the creation of a new civilization. The quality of life should be improved through the construction of a person mastering modern science and technology [3] . The implementation of the concept essentially became a triumph of the “moderate” forces in the Islam of Malaysia and had a great influence on the entire region as a whole, including its closest neighbor Indonesia . Muslim parties in this country, as stated by the rector of the Islamic University of Western Sumatra Azumardi Azra, have taken into account the experience of Malaysia and are interested in discussing the concept of Islam hadar, considering it as one way to end the idea of the identity of Islam and terrorism. Indeed, after the events of September 11, 2001, the reputation of “moderate and tolerant Islam”, which was famous for the region of Southeast Asia, was tarnished by the participation of some radical persons in the network of international terrorism [4] .
For multinational Malaysia , where in addition to Muslim Malays (61.3%), there is a significant stratum of immigrants from China and India professing other religions, the concept of Islam Hadari was the best way to maintain racial harmony and religious tolerance .
