The Astrakhan Metropolia is the Metropolis of the Russian Orthodox Church . It was formed by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of March 12, 2013 [1] in the administrative borders of the Astrakhan region . The ruling bishop of the Astrakhan diocese was appointed the head of the metropolis.

Astrakhan Diocese
Territory: Astrakhan urban district; Volodarsky , Ikryaninsky , Kamyzyaksky , Limansky , Volga regions of the Astrakhan region .
Akhtuba Diocese
Territory: Akhtubinsky , Enotaevsky , Krasnoyarsky , Narimanovsky , Kharabalinsky and Chernoyarsky districts , as well as a closed administrative-territorial formation city of Znamensk, Astrakhan region .
The ruling bishop is Bishop Anthony (Azizov) . Area - 36,770 km², population - 240 thousand people.
