Biography
Egil Schwartz was born on April 15, 1935 in Riga, in the family of the Latvian housewife Hertha and converted to Christianity Jew Jazeps, in his youth an evangelical preacher, and then a gymnasium teacher in Valnier. Jazeps Schwartz knew how to play the piano and loved Wagner's music. This is probably why he gave his son Egil a middle name - Gurnemanz (that was the name of the knight from the opera Parsifal). In the first year of the German occupation, Jazeps was shot by Latvian fascists.
Studied at the E. Darzin Riga Music School . A classmate of the People's Artist of the USSR composer Raymond Valdemarovich Pauls.
He graduated from the Latvian State Conservatory (faculty of orchestral instruments, 1958, and composition class J. Ivanova , 1968).
He played in the Variety Sextet of double basses of the Riga Radio (1956), was the chief conductor and artistic director of the Riga Variety Orchestra (1959-1964, with interruptions), the music director, conductor and arranger of the Moskontsert Variety Orchestra conducted by Eddie Rosner (1964-1965), later studio and tour groups of his wife - singer Larisa Mondrus .
Schwartz arranged melodies for songs performed by Valery Obodzinsky, Edita Piekha, Muslim Magomaev, Tamara Miansarova. In 1973, in Germany, Aegil's song “Jeder nette lette”, performed by Larisa, became popular.
