The script of the film was created based on the literary work of the Vietnamese writer Kao Dinh Bau “Love knows no boundaries” ( Vietnamese. Tình không giới tuyến ) of 1957.
Content
Story
The film takes place in the mid-1950s in the area of the Vietnamese Benhai River. After the defeat of France in the First Indochina War , under the Geneva Agreement of 1954, the Benhai River was used as a dividing line, passing along the 17th parallel between North and South Vietnam .
The film tells about two lovers - the guy Wang and the girl Hoai , separated by an artificially created border. South Vietnamese police chief Syong is trying to intimidate Hoai to force her to marry him. Hoai is forced to make a difficult choice: stay with her mother in the South or try to escape to her fiancé to the North.
