Biography
Born in Shlisselburg in the family of an engineer.
She studied at home until she was eight years old, then at Madame Camerat's Guesthouse in St. Petersburg.
She began to publish her works when she was 20 years old.
Soboleva’s novels were placed in the “Library for Reading” ( 1862 , “Another Broken Heart! ..”), in “Domestic Notes” ( 1863 , “And pro and contra, dreams and thoughts of the court counselor Lisitsyna”), in “Russian Word ”( 1864 ,“ Hopelessness ”), in“ Contemporary ”( 1866 ,“ The History of Paul ”).
Of its individual publications, it is especially known - “In Memory of the Old Year”, stories and short stories (St. Petersburg, 1885 ).
In the last years of her life, she wrote in children's magazines - "Children's Reading", " Family Evenings ", "Spring" and " Sincere Word ".
Her marriage to a civil servant broke up, supported herself by working as a private teacher. Living one literary income, Soboleva helped other people's children, paid for their studies, fed and dressed them.
She died in St. Petersburg in 1884 .
