History
The canton of Uri, which suspended the minting of its own coins in 1736, resumed it in 1811 [1] . New coins of the canton were minted only for one year and did not play a significant role in money circulation, where foreign coins were mainly used [2] .
The Swiss Constitution, adopted in 1848, established the exclusive right of the federal government to mint coins. On May 7, 1850, a federal law on the minting of coins was adopted; in the same year, minting of Swiss coins was begun [3] .
Banks of the canton of the banknote were not issued in 1811-1877. In 1878, began issuing banknotes Esparniss-Cassa des Kantons Uri, founded in 1837. In 1910, the issuance of banknotes was discontinued [4] .
