UFO is a British rock band playing in the style of hard rock . To date, the group has released 20 studio albums, as well as a large number of concert albums, singles and collections. The band was created in 1969 by vocalist Phil Mogg guitarist Mick Bolton bassist Pete Way and drummer Andy Parker . Soon they were able to sign a contract with Beacon Records. In 1970, the UFO released their self-titled debut album . Following him was the second studio album UFO 2: Flying . The albums were designed in the style of early hard rock and heavy metal , but the influence of space rock is also felt. The albums were popular in Japan, France and Germany, but went unnoticed in the rest of the world.

In 1973, Michael Schenker became the guitarist of the group, who transferred to the UFO from Scorpions . The band begins to play harder hard rock. Together with Schenker, the group records 5 studio and 1 live albums and first hits the American and British charts. Lights Out is considered by some critics to be the best UFO album of the 70s [1] , and Strangers in the Night , one of the greatest live albums. [2]
In 1978, Schenker leaves the UFO, Paul Chapman becomes the guitarist in his place. Albums recorded with Chapman are also popular. But in 1982, one of the founders of the band, bassist Pete Way leaves the UFO. In 1983, after a tour in support of Making Contact, the group split up.
After a year, the group gathers again. From the old lineup, only vocalist Phil Mogg remains. In 1985, the album Misdemeanor was released . The sound of the group is changing to popular in the 80s stadium rock. [3] However, the album is not as popular as previous releases.
The group undergoes numerous changes in composition, until in 1993 there was a reunion with guitarist Michael Schenker. In 1995, the album Walk on Water was released . However, in 1998 Schenker unexpectedly leaves the UFO. The group ceases creative activity until the return of Schenker in 2000. Two more albums are released, and Schenker leaves the group again.
In 2003, the new guitarist of the group becomes American Winnie Moore , who plays to this day. The 2009 album The Visitor , for the first time since Misdemeanor, hit the UK chart.
The latest album, Seven Deadly, was released on February 27, 2012.
