Describes the naval battle between the Russian and Turkish fleets. In the depths of the bay, sinking burning ships are visible, fragments of masts flying from the explosion. Rising flames with alumina smoke mix with the clouds, and the moonlight illuminates the infernal mixture of fire and water. In the foreground, with a dark silhouette, stands the flagship of the Russian fleet of the Three Hierarchs , to which comes a boat with the crew of the fireman D. S. Ilyin . Turkish sailors are visible in the water, clinging to the wreckage of ships, so as not to drown.
