Biography
Pantelei Ermolenko was born on September 7, 1909 in the village of Prudki (now the Shklovsky district of the Mogilev region of Belarus ). Received primary education, worked as a driver on a collective farm . In February 1942, Ermolenko was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . Since August of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, the Guard Sergeant Pantelei Yermolenko commanded the guns of the 198th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 68th Guards Rifle Division of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On September 24, 1943, during fights on the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Balyko-Schuchinka, Kagarlyksky district, Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR, Yermolenko personally destroyed several dozen enemy soldiers and officers, and also suppressed several firing points [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 13, 1943, for the "exemplary performance of the combat missions of the command and the heroism and courage shown" of the guard, Sergeant Pantelei Yermolenko was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 3357 [ 1] .
In 1947, with the rank of foreman, Ermolenko was demobilized. He lived in the village of Limannoye, Seryshevsky District, Amur Region , worked as chairman of a collective farm, then as a master of a drying unit. He died on October 24, 1984, was buried in Limann [1] .
He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .
