History
The company was created by Brian Fargo (founder of Interplay Productions ) and Matthew Findlay (worked at Interplay in 1989-2002) shortly after they left Interplay. According to Findlay, the name of the company was chosen because, shortly after leaving, he and Fargo felt themselves in exile ( Eng. Exile); for E3, they made cards with the name of a fictitious company, where the position of Fargo was designated as “leader in exile” ( English Leader in exile ), from in exile and the name of the company was formed [3] .
InXile launched Wasteland 2 in 2014, and then, in 2017, Torment: Tides of Numenera . Both games were funded through Kickstarter . inXile marked the beginning of the Kicking it forward program, the participants of which commit themselves to spend 5% of the profit earned on their projects after their release in support of other Kickstarter projects [4] (both of these games participate in the program).
November 10, 2018, Microsoft announced the purchase of InXile and its inclusion in the number of internal studios of the company. [five]
