History

The formation of the Tashkent State Agrarian University, as well as many higher educational institutions of Central Asia, is associated with the National University named after Mirzo Ulugbek, organized in 1918 by the local intelligentsia. In the 20s it included 8 agricultural faculties. On May 26, 1930, the Central Asian Agricultural Institute was founded on the basis of this faculty, and after several changes in October 1934 it was renamed the Tashkent Institute of Agriculture. In April 1991, the only institution of higher education in Central Asia received the status of Tashkent State Agrarian University.

During its existence, it trained more than 64 thousand, including, during the years of independence, about 24 thousand specialists and bachelors and more than 1,100 masters.

Currently, 90% of teachers and 70% of students participate in research. These studies are based on state and international grants on relevant topics. Since 2009, work is underway on 44 research projects on grants of the Republic of Uzbekistan and on 2 projects of international grants.

The university has an agricultural research and experimental station, 4 research centers:

  • plant biotechnology,
  • biological plant protection
  • Agrotechnology "Biomarkaz",
  • Fungicenter.

The university has laboratories: the quality of cotton fiber, milk quality, wool quality, agrophysical and other laboratories, soil erosion laboratories: microbiological, biochemical, agrochemical, which are effectively used in scientific research, as well as in the educational process.

Currently, TASHGAU is training specialists only in full-time education.
