Biography

Kayetan Abgarovich was born on August 7, 1856 in a landowner family. Studied in Stanislavov and Lviv . Having stopped training, since 1875 he began to engage in agriculture in his father's estate. The first work was published in 1889. In 1901 he was one of the founders and at the same time editor of the Polish newspaper Przedświt in Lviv, in which he was responsible for the literary department. He collaborated with the Polish periodical in Lviv, Krakow and Warsaw: published in magazines and newspapers Czas , Słowo Polskie , Gazeta Lwowska, Nowa Reforma , Tygodnik Ilustrowany .

Creativity

In his work, Kayetan Abgarovich paid attention to popular and natural fiction. In his writings, he described the life of the Podolsk gentry. Kayetan Abgarovich was interested in the life of Ruthenians and Hutsuls, contributing to the spread of Subcarpathian culture in Polish society. He wrote several literary works about the Ruthenian writer Osip-Yuri Fedkovich and Leo Tolstoy .

The most famous works of Kayetan Abgarovich are the novels “Klub nietoperzy” (1892), “Polubowna ugoda” (1894), a collection of short stories “Z wiejskiego dworu” (1895), a collection of essays and short stories “Z carskiej imperii” (1892), “Rusini” (1893) and Widziane i odczute (1904).
