Replica vessel is a copy of a specific vessel or type of vessel of a certain historical period. The purpose of the construction of a replica vessel may be:
- historical research of shipbuilding,
- studying the culture of time to which the original ship belonged,
- creation of a museum ship
- use for entertainment purposes, use in cinema, etc. [1] .
The term “ship- replica ” in this context does not refer to large-scale models .
The term “ship-museum” refers to a replica vessel when a museum exhibit is placed on it, or when the replica ship is itself the subject of a museum exposition.
