Biography
James D'Arcy (real name Simon Richard D'Arcy) was born on August 24, 1973 in Fulham , London , where he was raised by his mother Caroline (a nurse) with his younger sister Charlotte. His father died when James was still a child. After completing his studies at Christ's Hospital in 1991, young James went to Australia for a year and worked in dramas. department of the school in the city of Perth , where he showed interest in acting. Upon returning to London, he entered a theater school and completed a three-year course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art , receiving a bachelor's degree in this field (in 1995).

Career
His first appearances on television were small roles in the TV series Dumb Witness (1996) and Delsil and Pascoe (1996), followed by roles in television films. In 1997, he played Blifila in the mini-series The Story of Tom Jones, Foundling. In 1999, he played with Daniel Craig in the drama The Trench, and also got a small role in the comedy The Paradiso Hotel.
Since 2001, D'Arcy has played major roles as central characters in the mini-series Rebel Heart (2001, Ernie Coyne), Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby (2001, Nicholas Nickleby), along with Sophia Miles and Charles Dance, plays in the film The Guardian of Darkness (2001, Jake Martel). In 2002, he played the young Sherlock Holmes in the television movie Sherlock: The Case of Evil. In 2003, he played the role of the Barnaby of the Caspian in the film “ Points over i ” along with Gael Garcia Bernal and Natalia Verbeke , as well as the role of Jim Caddon in the series “POW” in 2003. He also gained wide acclaim when he played Lieutenant Tom Pullings in Peter Weir's “ Master of the Seas: On the Edge of the Earth ”, along with Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany.
