Biography

Vasily Titov [1] was born March 23, 1911 in the village of Pokrovka in the family of a peasant.

Russian. He graduated from the 4th grade of the school. He worked as an electrician at a city power station in the city of Kokand, Ferghana region, Uzbek SSR.

In the Red Army since 1941 . In the army since April 1942 .

Assistant to the platoon commander of the 120th Infantry Regiment (69th Infantry Division, 65th Army, Central Front) Senior Sergeant V. Titov distinguished himself on October 15, 1943 in battles when crossing the Dnieper River in the village of Radul (Repkinsky district, Chernihiv region areas) [2] .

After the war, demobilized. He worked in the energy management of agriculture, the head of the social welfare department of the city executive committee of the city of Chernivtsi (Ukraine).

He died on November 10, 2000. He was buried in the honorable alley of the Chernivtsi city cemetery .

Feat

"Assistant platoon commander of the 120th Rifle Regiment (69th Rifle Division, 65th Army, Central Front), Senior Sergeant Titov, as part of the landing group, crossed the Dnieper in the Radul region (Repkinsky district of Chernihiv region) on October 15, 1943, burst into the enemy’s trench and in hand-to-hand combat destroyed several Nazis.

Replaced a company commander who was out of order, repelled several enemy counterattacks, which facilitated the crossing of other regiment units ” [2] .

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on October 30, 1943 [2] .
