Biography

Mikhail Elesin was born in 1918 in the village of Eltsovka (now the Eltsovsky District of the Altai Territory ). Received primary education, after which he worked in Yeltsovka in the cooperative "Red craftsman". In 1941, Elesin was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He graduated from the Kemerovo school junior commanders. From June 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in the battles at the Stalingrad , Voronezh , 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts. He participated in the battles of Stalingrad and Kursk , the liberation of the Ukrainian SSR . By the autumn of 1943, Junior Sergeant Mikhail Elesin commanded the detachment of the 42nd Infantry Regiment of the 180th Infantry Division of the 38th Army of the Voronezh Front [1] .

On September 6, 1943, during the battle for the village Ivanitsky of the Sumy region, Elesin broke through into an enemy trench and destroyed about 10 enemy soldiers in hand-to-hand combat, and then, pursuing outgoing enemy units, threw grenades into the house in which the German machine gunners were located. Also, the branch of Elesina took an active part in the battles for the liberation of the villages of Smeloye and Velikie Bubny of the Romny district . At the end of September 1943, it went to the Dnieper north of Kiev . On October 7, 1943, the Yelesina branch crossed the Dnieper near the village of Lyutezh, Vyshgorodsky district, Kiev region . On October 10, 1943, in the area of ​​the village of New Petrovtsy, Elesin took an active part in seizing the height of 141.4 and repelling the enemy’s counterattacks, destroying a large number of enemy soldiers and officers [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 29, 1943 for "courage and heroism shown during the crossing of the Dnieper and in battles on the bridgehead" junior sergeant Mikhail Elesin was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 4500 [1] .

He participated in the liberation of Kiev , Korsun-Shevchenko , Uman-Botosha operations, the liberation of the Moldavian SSR , Romania , Hungary , Austria , Czechoslovakia . In August 1945, Elesin was demobilized. Returned home. He died on June 10, 1952 , buried in the Bulygin cemetery of Barnaul [1] .

He was also awarded a number of medals [1] .

In honor of Elesin, an alley was named in Yeltsovka, a monument was erected in Barnaul [1] .
