Biography

Stepan Eleinikov was born in 1907 in Minsk (now - Belarus ). Received an incomplete secondary education.

In 1930, Eleinikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He graduated from the Smolensk Military Infantry School. He participated in the Soviet-Finnish war, being an intelligence assistant to the chief of staff of the 101st infantry regiment of the 4th infantry division of the 13th army of the North-Western Front [2] .

On January 26, 1940, Eleinikov, at the head of a search detachment, successfully carried out reconnaissance in battle in the Suvantoyarvi region (now Sukhodolskoye ). In that battle he died. He was buried in a mass grave in the village of Sosnovo, Priozersky district, Leningrad region [2] .

Rewards

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 7, 1940, for "exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Finnish White Guard and courage and heroism shown", Lieutenant Stepan Eleinikov was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also posthumously awarded the Order of Lenin [2] .
