Club career
Career start
Seb Hines was born in the town of Weatherby , in the family of an American and an Englishwoman. He started playing football in the local team, Kirk Dayton Rangers, where he was noticed by the coaches of the Middlesbrough Youth Academy. Ceba's career could have ended without really starting - in October 2005 he received a serious knee injury, but managed to fully recover.
Middlesbrough
On January 16, 2007 , Hines made his debut for Middlesbrough in the winning match of the 3rd round of the FA Cup against Hull City (4: 3), having chalked up one of the goals [2] . On August 18 of the same year, Seb played his first match for Borough in the English Premier League , replacing Lee Don Hook in the game against Fulham .
On January 5, 2009, the defender was leased for a month at Derby County , but never entered the field. On February 12, Seb went on loan again to the League One club, Oldham Athletic , [3] where he spent 4 matches.
In the 2009/10 season, Hines played only two matches, and Middlesbrough began to get into the starting lineup only next season with a new coach, Tony Mowbray . On December 11, 2010, Ceb came out at the base in the match against Cardiff City (1-0) and was recognized as the best player of the meeting [4] . On March 8, 2011, Hines scored his first goal in the Championship in a match against Derby County (2: 1) [5] . On April 12, 2011, in a game against Ipswich , Hines received a double jaw fracture [6] . A few days later, the defender was operated on, and three iron plates were inserted into his jaw. As a result, Hines dropped out before the end of the season and, according to the most optimistic forecasts, was supposed to recover only by October, however, the defender was able to return to duty already during the summer pre-season training camp.
On August 24, 2011, Seb scored his first goal in the League Cup , hitting the goal of Peterborough United (0: 2) [7] . On March 6, 2012, the defender scored his second goal for the Rivermen in the League, hitting the Barnsley goal (2-0).
Before the start of the 2012/13 season, Hines signed a new 3-year contract with Middlesbrough, which put an end to speculation about joining one of the Premier League teams [8] . After joining Middlesbrough defenders Jonathan Woodgate and André Bikey, Seb began the new season as a reservist, but due to a serious injury to another central defender, Rhys Williams , he soon began to regularly appear in the starting lineup. On August 25, 2012, in a game against Crystal Palace , Seb entered the field for the first time this season and immediately scored a goal, which helped Boro win (2: 1). On December 12, in the quarter-finals of the League Cup against Swansea City , Hines in the 81st minute hit their own goal after a corner - this goal was the only goal in the match, as a result of which the rivermen flew out of the Cup.
International Career
Due to the fact that his father is a US citizen, Hines could play for the "star-striped", but in his youth he chose the English national team. The defender was a regular member of the youth teams of England of various ages (up to 16, up to 17 and up to 19 years), having spent a total of 17 matches. In March 2012, Seb admitted that he was ready to play for the US national team if he received an appropriate offer [9] .
