Biography
The first coach was Toivo Kotov, later Valery Kiselev. Until 1990, Sixten Sild fought for the Estonian SSR in domestic competitions. He was a multiple champion of the Estonian SSR and the USSR .
In 1991, at the World Championships in Czechoslovakia, he won a long distance bronze medal, becoming the first Soviet male athlete to be a winner of the world orienteering championship.
After gaining state independence, Estonia began to advocate for Estonia . But the performances were not so successful. The best result was 9th place in the relay in 1999. And in the individual event, the best achievement was 10th place on a long distance in 1995.
In the Estonian Championship (taking into account the Estonian SSR ) in 1985-1999 he won a total of 49 medals (34 gold, 5 silver and 10 bronze).

His sons - Timo (born 1988) and Lauri (born 1990) - are also orienting . Wife - Sarmite Sild (nee Gabrane), a well-known orienteering athlete from Latvia in Soviet times.
