Biography
Born in a military family.
In his youth, he actively participated in the activities of the Unity and Progress party, and joined the political movement of the Young Turks . In 1908 he participated in the revolution in the Ottoman Empire .
At the beginning of the First World War, for active political activity, he was exiled to Anatolia .
In 1932-1946 - was elected as a deputy of the Great National Assembly .
Creativity
Author of novels, short stories, plays and journalistic articles. A large place in his work is occupied by the image of a Turkish peasant with a characteristic idealization of life and customs. In later books, the theme of the national liberation struggle of the Turkish people, socio-ethical problems, the position of women in Turkish society, and the education of youth were reflected.
One of the first in Turkish literature addressed the theme of the province, the Turkish village during the wars and depicting the life of Anatolia from the perspective of a leading artist, striving for concreteness, conciseness, stylistic expressiveness, plasticity of characters.
The writer's work played a significant role in the democratization of the Turkish literary language.
Based on the novels by A. Gunduz, several films were shot.
