Cornelis Elisa Bertus Bremekamp ( Dutch. Cornelis Elisa Bertus Bremekamp ; 1888 - 1984 ) is a Dutch botanist , a specialist in the taxonomy of plants from the Acanthus and Marenova families.

Biography
Cornelis Eliza Bertus Bremekamp was born on February 7, 1888 in the city of Dordrecht . He studied at the Dordrecht Gymnasium, then entered the Faculty of Biology of the University of Utrecht . In 1912, under the leadership of Professor Friedrich August Ferdinand Christian Vent, Bremekamp received a Ph.D. for his work on geotropism in vines.
After receiving his degree, Bremekamp went to the Dutch East Indies, began to work at an experimental station in Pasuruan in east Java . Since 1915 he also taught biology in Surabaya . In 1921 , after the death of his wife, Cornelis returned to the Netherlands , where he became a lecturer at the Botanical Institute of the University of Amsterdam.
In 1924, Bremekamp moved to South Africa , became a professor at Transvaal University College in Pretoria . In 1931 he returned to the Netherlands. For 45 years, he worked at the Botanical Museum and Herbarium in Utrecht.
Bremekamp has published many monographs of various genera of acanthus and madder. In 1949, he was elected a member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences.
In 1976, Bremekamp retired. December 21, 1984 he died.
