Biography

Born on September 10, 1901 in the village of Tersa, Volsky district, Saratov province of the Russian Empire (now the Volsky district of the Saratov region ) in the peasant family of Alexei Ivanovich and Akulina Ivanovna Potryasovykh. Russian . He graduated from the three classes Tersinsky secondary school. After the death of his mother, he was forced to leave school and take over housekeeping and care for his younger brothers and sisters. In 1913, his father was taken to the soldiers. Becoming the head of a large family, I went to work in the field, and after harvesting I left for Volsk , where I hired a handyman at various enterprises in the city. In the years 1922-1923, he underwent military service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . After demobilization, he returned to his native village. In 1929, the Potryasovs entered the Kommunar collective farm organized in Ters, where Pyotr Alekseevich worked until the second half of the 1930s. After the birth of the fifth child in 1937, it became difficult to support a large family on the modest incomes of a collective farmer, and he went to work in Volsk. Before the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he worked as a laborer at a cement plant and in the timber industry enterprise.

PA Potryasov was again called up to the Red Army by the Volsky city military registration and enlistment office in the autumn of 1941. He fought on the Western and Leningrad fronts. He was wounded twice. As a result of the second wound received on July 23, 1943, Peter Alekseevich almost lost his leg. The bullet crushed the bone, and the doctors had to collect it in pieces. About ten months, P. A. Potryasov spent in hospitals. And although he could walk on his own, his wounded leg lost its functionality in many respects and was constantly ill. Doctors suggested that Peter Alekseevich be commissioned, but he flatly refused and in the spring of 1944 he was sent to the 588th Infantry Regiment of the 142nd Infantry Division of the 23rd Army of the Leningrad Front, where he was enrolled as a rifleman in the 3rd Infantry Company.

As a result of the Leningrad-Novgorod operation carried out by the troops of the Leningrad, Volkhov, and 2nd Baltic fronts in the winter of 1944, the German fascist troops were driven 220-280 kilometers from Leningrad [1] . However, a large group of Finnish and German troops continued to threaten the city from the north. In order to defeat it in the summer of 1944, the troops of the Leningrad and Karelian fronts conducted the Vyborg-Petrozavodsk operation . Red Army soldier P. A. Potryasov participated in the Vyborg operation , during which units of the 23rd Army reached the third line of Finnish fortifications on the Karelian Isthmus , built along the left bank of the Vuoksa River (VKT-line). In the period from July 4 to July 8, 1944, the Soviet command made several attempts to force the river in various sectors, but all of them were unsuccessful. On July 9, 1944, after the regular artillery preparation, the crossing of Vuoksa in the area of the village of Paakkola began an assault battalion of the 588th rifle regiment of the 142nd rifle division. The boat in which the Red Army soldier P. A. Potryasov was damaged by shell fragments and sank not far from the left bank. Pyotr Alekseevich managed to get out of the water and bring the Maxim machine gun to the shore. Having handed it over to the platoon commander, P.A. Potryasov with other battalion fighters went on the attack and was one of the first to break into the Finnish trenches. In the melee, the Finns were knocked out of the coastal trenches. In the battles for expanding the bridgehead, the Red Army man Potiasov raised the battalion six times to attack. In this case, he was strongly contused by the close rupture of the projectile, but did not come out of the battle. The main forces of the 588th rifle regiment began to cross into the bridgehead captured by the assault detachment near the village of Vuosalmi.

In an effort to eliminate by any means the bridgehead on the left bank of the Vuoks captured by parts of the 142nd rifle division, the Finnish command threw large infantry forces from the VI Army Corps into battle. Within two hours, they fiercely attacked the positions of the paratroopers, but all their attacks were repelled. Pulling up several tanks to the battlefield, the Finns regrouped and again went on the attack under the cover of armored vehicles. Red Army soldier P. A. Potryasov, on his own initiative, crawled to the rear of the advancing enemy and opened fire from a machine gun on enemy infantry, destroying about 10 Finnish soldiers and causing confusion in the enemy’s camp. Taking advantage of this circumstance, the battalion commander sent three soldiers with light machine guns to help Pryatasov. Together, they cut off the Finnish infantry from the tanks, and at this time the gunners who had crossed over to the bridgehead shot down three enemy vehicles. After suffering heavy losses, the enemy retreated. With the reflection of the last counterattack, the Red Army soldier P. A. Potiasov was injured, but bleeding, he did not let the orderly into his office until the attack was repulsed.

After the third injury, P. A. Potryasov was finally declared unfit for military service, but remained in the army. Until the end of the war he served in non-combat units.

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to Red Army man Potyasov Peter Alekseevich for unparalleled courage and bravery shown during the crossing of the Vuoks river and in battles on the bridgehead on its left bank by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 24, 1945. In the fall of 1945, Peter Alekseevich was demobilized.

Returning to his native village, he worked as a laborer in the educational economy of the Volsky Agricultural Technical School. Severe wounds and contusions received at the front soon affected the veteran’s health. Peter Alekseevich increasingly found himself in a hospital bed. In February 1959, his wounded leg festered. He was admitted to the district hospital, but because of the onset of sepsis, on March 1, 1959, Peter Alekseevich died. Pavel A. Potryasov was buried in the cemetery of the village of Tersa, Volsky District, Saratov Region.
