It originates in the southwestern part of Minnesota, near the border with Iowa. In the upper stream flows south, and in the middle and lower reaches - mainly in the south-western direction. The length of the river is about 415 km [1] .
The main tributaries are the Ochayedan, Maple and West Fork rivers. In the spring, frequent floods on the river .
