Makarovo is a village, in the past a village, of the Ogarkovsky rural settlement of the Rybinsk district of the Yaroslavl region ^[1] .

The village is located on the right bank of the Volgotnia river. Here, in general, in the forest and sparsely populated region in the lower and middle reaches of the river, a series of villages compactly follows, spaced no more than a kilometer away. Upstream Makarovo, on the same right bank is the village of Barshchinka , opposite it on the left bank is the village of Semenkovo. Also on the left bank, but downstream - Dosugovo . To the west of Makarov and downstream - Volkovo , in which the Volgotnya River crosses the P104 highway on the section Rybinsk - Poshekhonye ^[2] .

The village is indicated on the general survey plan of the Rybinsk district of the late XVIII century.

As of January 1, 2007, there were 4 permanent residents in the village ^[3] . A post office located in the village of Volkovo serves 39 houses in the village of Makarovo ^[4] .
