Biography
In 1923 - 1925 she lived with her father in Odessa - Yevgeny Slavinsky was an employee of the Odessa Film Factory ; at the same time they shot the film “The Swedish Match”, in which the outstanding actor Les Kurbas played his only film role.
Later, Maria Evgenievna recalled:
in the next house, Kurbas and his group lived “their own special life”: they got up very early, “and every one of them went out for exercises. Many were engaged in acrobatics. Kurbas spoke on various issues of contemporary art. Kurbasov artists with their interests, with their level of culture, differed sharply from many of the employees of the cinema of that time. And I reached out to them. ” And when it came time to leave, Kurbas and his friends compiled for an eighteen-year-old girl a “list of books that I should have read, a list of performances that I should have watched, and a list of lectures that I should have listened to ...” [1]
In 1926 she graduated from the B. V. Tchaikovsky film school. She began working in cinema in 1927 as a film editor at the Gosvoenkino film studio. In 1931 - assistant director, in 1935-1965 - director of the Central Documentary Film Studio . Member of the CPSU since 1953 .
She was buried at Vvedensky cemetery together with her father (22 school).
