Fabien Gaultier ( French: Fabien Galthié , born March 20, 1969 ) is a French rugby player and rugby coach who now works with the Montpellier club. As a player, he played in the position of Scrum Hawa (scrum midfielder). He spent most of his playing career with the French team Kolomier . Galta represented the French team in 64 international meetings. Four times the athlete played at the world championships , and at the 2003 World Cup was the captain of the national team. Former head coach Bernard Laporte described Galtier as the best scrum havana in French history [1] .

Career
Gaming
Galtier was born in Cahors and began playing rugby in the town of Tournaeus. Subsequently, the athlete moved to Kolomye . The international debut of the player took place in the summer of 1991 in a game with the national team of Romania . In the same year, Galtier was included in the application for the World Cup , replacing the injured Pierre Berbizier. Four years later, the athlete also represented the country at the world championship . The French reached the semifinals, where they lost to future champions - Springbox .
In 1999, the rugby player went to the World Cup for the third time. The French team won silver medals, losing to the Australians in the final. Nevertheless, the victory of the 1/2 finals match against New Zealand , held at the London Twickenham , became one of the highlights of the tournament. In 2000, the Galtier team reached the final of the French championship , but the player himself missed the decisive match. Colomier lost to rivals from Stud France (23:28), and the next season Galtier joined the champions. In 2001, the player was appointed captain of the national team. A year later, the team successfully performed at the Six Nations Cup , having won the Grand Slam for the victory over all opponents. Then the rugby player became the winner of the " Player of the Year " award according to the leading rugby organization . French mentor Bernard Laporte was recognized as the best coach of the year.
Galtier played at the World Cup 2003 already as a captain. In the third game of the tournament against the Scots, the team won a bonus point thanks to the fourth attempt entered, the author of which was the team leader. Galtier missed the last game of the group stage against the USA . In the quarter finals meeting against Ireland, the team convincingly won, but lost to the British in the semifinals (7:24), who subsequently took the cup. At the end of the tournament, the player announced his retirement in the national team.
The rugby player won his only trophy at the club level in the final match of his career. On June 7, 2003, the Galtier team “Stud France” became the champion of the country, beating the Toulouse championship in the finals (32:18).
Coaching
After Stud France coach Nick Mallett resigned, Galtier succeeded him. In the 2004/05 season, Parisians reached the final of the Heineken Championship and Cup , losing, however, both titles ( Biarritz and Toulouse , respectively). A year later, the club played in the semifinals of the domestic championship, where it turned out to be weaker than Toulouse. In the European arena, the team was also left without prizes, losing to the English Leicester Tigers . In 2008, Galtier resigned as a trainer and became an expert on the national television channel France 2 and the private radio station Europe 1 . In November-December 2008, the specialist collaborated with the coaching staff of the Argentine national team . In 2010, Galtier signed a three-year contract with the Montpellier club. In the first year of work with the team, Galtier brought the wards to the finals of the championship.
