Biography
Ilya Aleksandrovich Serov was born on July 13 (26), 1917 in Moscow into a working class family. He graduated from 7 classes. He worked as a locksmith in a factory.
In the Red Army since 1935. In 1938 he graduated from the Yeisk Military Aviation Pilot School. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1940. Member of the Soviet-Japanese war .
The squadron commander of the 26th assault aviation regiment (12th assault aviation division, Pacific Fleet Air Force) senior lieutenant Ilya Serov made several sorties, during which he personally sunk alone and in the group one enemy transport. In the Racin assault, he participated in the suppression of Japanese anti-aircraft batteries, providing the actions of other aviation groups.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 14, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the fight against Japanese militarists and the courage and heroism shown to this, Senior Lieutenant Serov Ilya Alexandrovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal ( No. 7152).

The bust was installed on the Heroes Alley in front of the headquarters of the 7060th air base of the naval aviation of the Pacific Fleet (military unit 69262) in the garrison of Yelizovo in the Kamchatka Territory .
A street in the city of Vladivostok is named after the Hero.
