Biography
Born October 21 (November 3), 1913 in the village of Kolos, now Rogachev district, Gomel region of Belarus, in a peasant family. Belarus . In 1930 he moved to Leningrad , where he worked as a mechanic at the Electric factory . He graduated from the 1st year of the Mechanical Institute .
In the Navy since 1934. In 1938 he graduated from the Sevastopol Naval Artillery School named after LKSMU. Arrived in the Baltic Fleet . He participated in the war with Finland from 1939-1940 . Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1940.
In the battles of World War II since 1941. He fought in the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. Commander of the coastal artillery battery. Member of the defense of Leningrad . For the courage shown in the battles near Narva , he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree. In 1944 he was transferred to the Black Sea Fleet , and in May 1945 - to the Pacific Fleet.

Major Pochtaryov, operator of the coastal defense headquarters operator (Peter and Paul Naval Naval Base, Pacific Fleet), was appointed commander of the combined battalion of the marine corps during the Kuril landing operation . On August 18, 1945, a battalion under his command successfully landed on the island of Shumshu ( Kuril Islands ), captured coastal defenses and boldly began to advance into the depths of the enemy’s defense.
