Characteristics
HD 103774 - a star of 7.12 visible magnitude; for the first time in astronomical literature is mentioned in the catalog of Henry Draper , published at the beginning of the XX century . It is a yellow-white dwarf with a mass of 1.33 solar . [1] The star's luminosity is three and a half times the solar one. The surface temperature of HD 103774 is about 6489 Kelvin . The star's age is estimated at about 8.1 billion years.
Planetary system
In 2013, a group of astronomers working with the HARPS spectrograph announced the discovery [1] of the planet HD 103774 b in the system. It is a hot gas giant with a mass equal to 36% of Jupiter’s mass. The planet turns at a distance of 0.07 AU. from the parent star, making a full turn in 5.8 days. The discovery of the planet was accomplished by Doppler spectroscopy .
