Biography
Nikita Andreevich Stepanov [1] was born on October 13, 1913 in the village of Vasilyevka now in the Ermekeyevsky district of Bashkiria. Russian. Received primary education. Before he was drafted into the army, he worked on a collective farm.
He was drafted into the Red Army in January 1942 by the Yermekeevsky district military enlistment office.
At the front of World War II from March 1943.
Assistant Reciprocating Platoon Commander of the 58th Cavalry Regiment (16th Guards Cavalry Division, 7th Guards Cavalry Corps, 61st Army, Central Front) of the Guard Senior Sergeant N. A. Stepanov was especially distinguished in performing difficult reconnaissance tasks during training to force the Dnieper River on September 26, 1943 at the village of Nyvky, Gomel Region.
After the war he returned to the village of Vasilyevka, worked as a buster in the Ermekeevsky forestry.
He died on September 22, 1953, was buried in the village of Vasilyevka.
Feat
“... When crossing the Dnieper River ... comrade Stepanov, under cover of night, together with a comrade crossed the fishing boat to the right bank, acting cautiously and boldly, entered the enemy’s trench, stabbed one soldier with a knife and captured one, and transferred him to the right bank of the Dnieper, delivered to the regiment headquarters.
In the battle for the village of Galki comrade Stepanov was given the task, together with a comrade, to move behind enemy lines and establish the location of his firing points. At night, they went on to complete the task. After shooting noiselessly 2 people, the brave scouts went behind the Nazis ... Having established the exact location of the firing points, the scouts returned to the regiment in the morning, and after half an hour our gunners smashed the enemy’s firing points ” [2] .
The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on January 15, 1944 [2] .

Memory
A street in the village is named after Hero. Ermekeevo; his name is carved on a marble slab installed in one of the halls of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
