The project started in March 2005, and on April 12, 2005 LLC Banki.ru Information Agency was registered by the Federal Service for Supervision of Compliance with the Legislation in the Field of Mass Communications and the Protection of Cultural Heritage.

At the time of creation, Banki.ru portal was the first in RuNet base on deposits in Russian banks. As of January 2015, the Deposits service allows you to find complete information on more than 4,728 deposits in 795 Russian banks. Now the site provides information on all banking services for individuals - “Consumer loans”, “Mortgage”, “Credit cards”, “Car loans”, “Internet banking”, as well as data on services for legal entities: “Settlement and cash service ”,“ Loans for business ”,“ Deposits for legal entities ”.
The agency’s information activities are based on Russian and international banking and macroeconomic news. According to the “ Medialogy ” rating for the II quarter of 2014, Banks.ru ranks second in the ranking of the most cited media resources in the Russian financial industry, after Finmarket news agency.
Weekly, the portal publishes ratings of the most profitable deposits and loans with the lowest interest rates. Each month, the site is updated on the ratings of banks on key financial indicators.
Almost simultaneously with the start of the project in 2005, the People’s Rating service was launched on the site, which allows assessing the level of service and the quality of bank services based on feedback from visitors to Banks.ru. Representatives of more than 220 Russian banks respond to customer reviews. Also, as part of the Hot Line service, representatives of more than 25 banks answer questions from visitors to the portal.
Since the end of 2011, the “Special Offers” service has been launched, within the framework of which the portal, together with Russian banks, offers site visitors banking products and services on special conditions.
Founders and owners
The founder and main owner of Banks.ru is Philipp Ilyin-Adayev . The owners also include Kirill Ilyin-Adayev, TV presenter Elena Ishcheeva (wife of Philip Ilyin-Adaev), Alexey Puchkov, Vasily Cheptsov. In 2010, FINAM Investment Holding was included in the list of shareholders. In 2013, a minority stake in FINAM was acquired by the Russia Partners Technologies investment fund. As of 2015, 60% of the group belongs to its founders, another 40% to Russia Partners.
