Biography

Vasily Ilyich Utin was born on December 17, 1918 [1] in the village of Bugabashevo, now in the Bakalinsky district of Bashkiria, into a peasant family.

Russian. Candidate member of the CPSU (b) since 1941. He graduated from an agricultural college in the village of Kushnarenkovo, Kushnarenkovsky district of Bashkiria. He worked as a teacher and inspector of the district department of public education of the Bakalinsky district of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1935 to 1936 he worked as a statistician of the Bakalinsky district land department of the Bashkir Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and from 1939 to January 1940 he worked in the Bakalinsky district as a teacher of the Bugabashevskaya incomplete secondary school, and then as an inspector of the district department of public education.

He was drafted into the army on January 15, 1940 and sent to the troops of the NKVD of the USSR.

He served as a border guard of the 14th border post of the 2nd border detachment of the NKVD troops of the USSR Office of the Border Troops of the NKVD of the Ukrainian SSR. He participated in the liberation campaign of the Red Army in Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina . On June 28, 1940, he was the first of his fellow soldiers to cross the Dniester and hoist the Red Banner on the former Romanian coast.

Then he was the secretary of the Komsomol bureau (from April 13, 1941) of the 3rd border commandant’s office and the deputy political instructor (from May 17, 1941) of one of the border posts of the 3rd border commandant’s of the 2nd Kalarash border detachment of the Directorate of the NKVD of the Moldavian SSR.

On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War he served in the 2nd border detachment. On September 25, 1941, as part of the 3rd border commandant's office of the 2nd border detachment, it was transferred to staff the 95th border special regiment of the special forces of the NKVD of the USSR Directorate for the Protection of the Military Rear of the Southern Front.

He distinguished himself and died in 1941 in a battle for the city of Debaltseve, Donetsk region of Ukraine [2] .

Utin Vasily Ilyich was buried at the site of death with the giving of military honors. After the war, he was reburied in a military mass grave, located in the center of the village of Kamyshatka, Shakhtyorsk district, Donetsk region of Ukraine, where a war memorial with a monument to the Hero was later erected.

Feat

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was posthumously awarded on the basis of the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 27, 1942 [3] for the exploits committed on December 9-10, 1941 in the battles for the city of Debaltseve, Donetsk region of Ukraine [2] :

“On the night of December 9 to 10, 1941, as part of a reconnaissance group, he entered the outskirts of the village of Sof'ino-Raevka of the Yenakievsky City Council of Donetsk Region, where then he quietly got into a large two-story house, occupied by an enemy platoon under the barracks, and threw a grenade out the window. When the Nazis who survived the explosion in their underwear began to run out in a panic into the courtyard, they killed at least ten of them from the “lying” position in well-aimed short bursts from the time sheet. ”

Memory

In the 1960s, the name of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Deputy Political Officer V.I. Utin, was assigned to the frontier post of the 95th Border Order of the Koenigsberg Order of Lenin and the Red Star detachment, stationed in the city of Bagrationovsk, Kaliningrad Region (Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR No. 599-72 of May 20, 1964 of the year); one of the streets of Bagrationovsk (decision of the Bagrationovskiy District Council of Workers' Deputies No. 183 of September 15, 1967); school in his small homeland, in which he studied when and within whose walls he worked as a rural teacher before being drafted into the army.

At the border post bearing the name of the Hero, his bronze bust is installed. A bust of the Hero is also installed on the territory of the Ozersky training center of the 23rd border twice-red banner detachment of the modern Red Banner border department of the FSB of Russia.
