Biography
Konstantin Egorov was born on August 17, 1912 in settlements near the village of Resurrection (now the Galich district of the Kostroma region ).
He received his primary education, after which he worked on a collective farm .
In 1934, Egorov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1939 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. He participated in the Soviet-Finnish war, being the platoon commander of the 95th tank battalion of the 20th tank brigade of the 7th army of the North-Western Front [2] .
On February 1, 1940, during the battle for the fortified point 25 kilometers southeast of Vyborg (now the Leningrad Region ), Egorov’s platoon tanks came close to the Finnish pillboxes, covering their loopholes, which contributed to the successful advance of infantry and sappers. When Finnish soldiers began shelling them from the flank trench, Yegorov turned his tank around and aimed it at them. The crew destroyed them, but he himself was blown up on an anti-tank mine. Egorov was forced to leave the immobilized car and make his way to the rest of the platoon tanks. At that moment he was killed. He was buried in Vyborg [2] .
