The Czech Republic took part in the 2014 Winter Olympics , which took place in Sochi ( Russia ) from February 7 to 23 , where it was represented by 88 athletes in thirteen sports. At the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the Czech flag was carried by the skier Sharka Strakhova ^[1] , and at the closing ceremony by the biathlete, Odrej Moravec , a three-time medalist of the Olympic Games in Sochi ^[2] .

The 2014 Winter Olympic Games for the Czech Republic were the most successful winter games - for the first time 8 Olympic medals were won: 2 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals. In the unofficial medal standings, the Czech Republic ranked 15th.
