Story
Robert Langdon, a professor of art history at Harvard University, regains consciousness in a hospital ward with a wounded head and loss of memory of the events of the past few days . His last memoirs concern Harvard, but the hospital is in Florence , in Italy. Siena Brooks, a local doctor, says he suffered a concussion as a result of a bullet wound and was in the emergency room. Roberta begins to pursue a woman named Waienta, dressed in the form of Italian carabinieri. Approaching the professor's ward, she kills one of the doctors. Siena and Robert manage to escape and hide in her apartment.
In his jacket, Robert finds a biological cylinder. He decides to go to the American consulate. They claim that they were looking for him for a very long time, and asked to be informed about his whereabouts. Not wanting to involve Siena in her business, Robert calls the address not far from her apartment. He later discovers that Vicent appears at that place with a pistol. Confident that the US government wants to destroy him, Robert Langdon concludes that the only chance to survive is to uncover the mystery of the cylinder. It turns out that with the help of a cylinder you can project a modified version of Sandro Botticelli's Hell Card. To the end, black-clad armed men interfere with solving the riddle, from which Siena and Robert decide to escape together.
The plot several times makes the reader and Langdon suspect different people. The last conviction that we are talking about that extravagant millionaire is going to solve the problem of overpopulation of the Earth with all the consequences with the help of a world mora get an unexpected turn. All the actions of the heroes of the novel are in vain - the virus has long been released and infected all of humanity. But he does not kill, but makes a third of humanity randomly barren. Plague is a virus of infertility, which should stop the overpopulation of the planet and save civilization from death.
