Giraud, Charles Pierre

Charles Pierre Giraud ( Fr. Charles-Pierre Girault-Duvivier , 1765 - 1832 ) - French grammar and lexicographer .

In 1811 he published the Grammaire des grammaires ou analyse raisonnée de meilleurs traités sur la grammaire française (Grammar of grammars, or rational analysis of the best treatises on French grammar), which was widely adopted; this work summarized the experience of French logical grammars of the 17th-19th centuries, which began with the Grammar of Por-Royal . Giraud also compiled the Encyclopédie de l'antiquité dictionary on the history of the development of sciences and ancient arts.
