Biography

Vladimir Alekseevich Sekin was born on May 15, 1924 in the village of Poim (now in the Belinsky district of the Penza region) into a peasant family. In 1935, Vladimir Alekseevich and his family moved to Sterlitamak . In Sterlitamak he visited the children's technical station, was engaged in modeling airplanes; In 1940, after graduating from the 8th grade of secondary school No. 3, he entered the Sterlitamak Petroleum College .

Before the war, he left the oil technical school and began to study flight training at the 101st sterlitamak training squadron of Aeroflot. Before the start of World War II, he volunteered for the Red Army, received a referral to study at the Engels Military Aviation School. In 1944, he graduated from college, mastered the Il-2 attack plane.

From June 1944 to May 1945, the Il-2 attack aircraft fought in Belarus, Poland and Germany. During his first week at the front, Lieutenant Sekin made 28 sorties; 7 times the plane of an attack aircraft was hit by enemy artillery.

The first award, the Order of the Red Star, Vladimir Sekin received in July 1944 [1] . The Hero Star in 1945 was handed to him by Marshal Rokossovsky [2] .

After the end of World War II, he served in military aviation for 12 years - in the Northern Group of Forces, in the Transcarpathian and Trans-Baikal Military Districts. He mastered the Il-10 attack aircraft , the MiG-15bis fighter. He taught young pilots.

Having left the reserve with the rank of lieutenant colonel, together with his wife Alexandra Dmitrievna, sons Vladimir, Valery and daughter Natalia returned to Sterlitamak. From 1971 he headed the Sterlitamak Aero Club, until 1987 he was the head of the transport department of the furniture factory.

He died on December 20, 2005.

Feat

The title of Hero of the Soviet Union, V. A. Sekin, was awarded on August 18, 1945 [3] "for performing 130 effective combat assault flights for bombing and assaulting manpower, firepower and enemy equipment and showing courage, courage and heroism" [4] .

On the house where the Hero lived (Mira Street, 57), a memorial plaque was installed in two languages ​​- Bashkir and Russian.
