History

The first match the team held on December 25, 1931 in Rabat , the Moroccans accepted the Spanish rugby players and lost with a score of 6:14. A revenge could have taken place three days later, but now a draw was recorded in the match (10:10). In April of the following year, the teams met again, and the Moroccans lost 8:14, the match was held in Madrid . In December, the Spaniards were stronger already with a noticeable advantage (14: 0). After four meetings, the Africans took a long pause. The game at the international level, the Moroccans resumed only in 1967.

After the break, the Africans again played with Spain and lost for the fifth time (0: 3). The next meeting of opponents in Casablanca brought the Moroccans the first victory - the team surpassed the Europeans by just one point. At the end of 1970, the team lost to the French rugby in a friendly match, and a year later beat the Italians in Naples . Then followed a home defeat from Romania (0:25). In 1972, again in a friendly match with the French, the Moroccans lost by a grand score of 6:73. In 1975, the national team beat Belgium in Brussels . Later, Africans won over Italy and Germany . The team was still inferior to the French and Romanians. In 1983, there was another match between French and Moroccan athletes - the first won with a score of 16: 9.

The team participated in the qualifying tournament for the 1991 World Cup . In 1990, the Arabs lost to Zimbabwe (0:16) and Tunisia (12:16), but defeated the Ivorians (11: 4). As a result, the team dropped out of further struggle. In the next qualifying round, the team defeated Tunisia (6: 5) and lost to Côte d'Ivoire, which was enough to enter the second round. There, the team again lost to the Ivory Coast rugby players, turned out to be weaker than Zimbabwe and had a draw with Namibia .

The national team played in the fourth round of the 1999 championship selection. Players had to meet with Namibia, Zimbabwe and Côte d'Ivoire. As a result, the team became the second, skipping ahead of the Namibians, and went into the international round of the playoffs. The meeting with Uruguay was unsuccessful for the Africans, and the Moroccans lost both matches. In 2000, the team became a member of the first season of the European Cup of Nations . The team played at a fairly high level and was able to surprise the European rugby players by defeating the Romanians (18:10). In the same year, the Arabs played with the youth team of South Africa (under 23 years old). In qualifying for the 2003 world championship, the team defeated the Ivorians and lost to Tunisia. In February, the team played with the amateur team of France - the match in Rabat ended with a triumph of the hosts (32:22).

The attempt to qualify for the French World Cup in 2007 was also unsuccessful. The team managed to surpass Uganda (36: 3) and play a draw with Côte d'Ivoire (9: 9). Then the players lost twice to Namibia (7:25 in Windhoek and 8:27 in Casablanca). Despite this, the national team entered international butt matches, however, Portuguese opponents left the two-match series as winners. The selection for the 2011 championship, the team failed at the very beginning, losing a home meeting with Côte d'Ivoire (9:21). The team was not able to take part in the 2011 AFrica Cup, as a result of which the tournament organizers transferred the team to Division 1B . After the defeats of Madagascar and Senegal, the Moroccans dropped out to Division 1C and lost the right to participate in the selection for the 2015 World Cup , the final part of which took place in England [1] .
