House d'Aligre ( fr. D'Aligre ) - the French family, whose members held senior positions in the magistracy [1] , which earned the nobility of the mantle .
Famous Representatives
- Etienne d'Aligre ( Étienne Ier d'Aligre , 1550-1635) - Chancellor of France and the keeper of the state seal; lost his seat and was removed from the courtyard by Cardinal Richelieu because he did not quite decisively speak out against Marshal d'Ornano [1] .
- His son, also Etienne d'Aligre ( Étienne II d'Aligre , 1592-1677), held the same position until his death; earned a reputation as an enlightened and honest person [1] .
- Etienne-François d'Aligre ( Étienne François d'Aligre , 1726-1798) - the first president of the Paris Parliament , at the head of which he made several times the king objections to taxes and the actions of some ministers. He opposed the convening of the general states , and when Necker collected them, he read to the king in the presence of the minister a note in which he predicted that this meeting would be dangerous for the king. The note was left without consequences, he resigned. On the day of the capture of the Bastille, he was arrested and taken to the city hall , from where he was rescued by one of his former ministers. He emigrated one of the first and died in Braunschweig , leaving his son a significant fortune. [one]
